From @ninepointtwo79: Should wrestlers do away with the term 'mark' when on social media, and then promoting their merch in the next tweet? lol
That's a funny question, but also very good because it does happen a lot. The term "mark" is another way of saying fan. It could go beyond wrestling really because if somebody watches a TV show like Game of Thrones then they're a mark for it too. It's just that in wrestling they have a different lingo that makes the business unique. There are some times when people use it in a derogatory way by calling somebody a "f'n mark" if the fans insult them. Fans can be a lot more courageous on Twitter because it's not like somebody is going to punch them in the mouth because of what they said. If you go to a wrestling show there might be a guy in the front row insulting a wrestling, so then the wrestler might reply by telling the "f'n mark" to sit down. Your point made me chuckle because there are definitely some wrestlers that will insult people on social media and then expect people to buy their new shirt. The best thing for wrestling people to do on Twitter is to hold in whatever kind of anger or personal feelings they might have for haters. It's only going to get them in trouble. The best way to do it is make jokes about it and have fun, which is what guys like Kevin Owens do very well.
