4. Would A 1990-style 'Grand Finale' Match Go Down Well These Days?

To be honest, I don't think a 1990-style ultimate final would go down well at all - nor do I think it worked particularly well back in the day. The event saw Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior go over a string of midcarders with ease, which may have made them look incredibly strong, but slowed the momentum of a whole slew of undercarders in the process.

These days, I think WWE would approach such a match with a little more sense, but the very format ensures that more superstars take falls to serve an ultimate victor. There are so many guys on the current roster who simply can't take a throwaway loss in such a match - it wouldn't make sense for Lesnar, Cena, Styles, or any member of The Shield to lose like that; their clean defeats are deliberately kept sparse so as to mean more in the long run.
