8. Should WWE Be Happy Or Angry They're Still Getting So Many PPV Buys?
Thanks to Nick Reeves @Rockchalknick for the question. SummerSlam did 123,000 total buys, broken down as 36,000 in North America and 87,000 outside of North America. As for the Network numbers, there is thought to be around a million subscribers. WWE want as many people signed up to WWE Network. The idea is that it locks down money over a year, rather than people just dipping in for the odd PPV. Obviously you can cancel at any time, but WWE bank on you staying for the regular content, or because you simply forget / can't be bothered to cancel. They'd rather those buying on PPV would sign up for the Network, but it isn't as if they're going to be unhappy at making money. Those 36,000 PPV buyers in the US may not have internet. As such, WWE will be pleased to take their money in the traditional method. If they were angry, they'd simply stop offering the PPV option.
