10 WWE Records That Fans Absolutely Hate
3. Rey Mysterio Has the Shortest WWE Championship Reign
He's the ultimate underdog who defied the odds time and time again, but when it comes to his WWE Championship reign, it was more of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment.
In July 2011, Rey Mysterio won the WWE Championship by defeating The Miz in a tournament final on Raw after CM Punk walked out of Money in the Bank with the title the night before. It was a proper feel-good moment for the fans, and then all of a sudden it wasn't.
Later that same night, John Cena challenged Mysterio for the title and, in true Cena fashion, won the match. So, Rey's reign lasted just a few hours, making it the shortest WWE Championship reign in history.
It's a painful one to digest. Mysterio, a beloved figure and a true legend, finally gets his hands on the WWE Championship, only to lose it before the night is over. While some might see it as a testament to his resilience, others can't help but feel it was a bit of a slap in the face. At least Rey Mysterio can say he was WWE Champion, even if it was just for a cup of coffee.
