10 WWE Records That Will Never Be Broken
Records are made to be broken, but some things may never change.
The Olympics are here, and records are being broken left, right, and centre. Whether it is athletics records, swimming records, human rights abuse records, or even fencing records, Rio 2016 is rewriting the books with aplomb. In football, the world transfer record was recently broken when Man Utd paid a hilarious amount of money for a decent midfielder they let go for free. Sport is full of records, and records are made to be broken.
The veil has long been lifted in professional wrestling and the days of George Hackenschmidt are long gone. It ain't a sport kids, it's entertainment. Still, it is entertainment through the medium of sports, so records still exist. Heck, the records in wrestling are more pride-based than achievement, and we all know that pride trumps talent.
World Wrestling Entertainment is a statisticians heaven, with all sorts of percentages thrown about with facts and trivia. Did you know Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar was the first WrestleMania main event to feature two men using their real names? You do now!
Wrestling is changing though, and there are certain records in WWE that simply won't be broken. Of course, there is always a chance, but pigs would have to fly for some of these bests to fall.
Here are 10 such records, and yes The Streak is in there.
10. Longest Undefeated Streak At WrestleMania - 21-0
Right, let's get this out the way first. At WrestleMania XXX The Undertaker's legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania ended at the hands of Brock Lesnar. Everyone was shocked, as 'Taker winning at the big one had become so predictable that even Nostrodamus had stopped bothering to call it.
Lesnar managed to do what Jimmy Snuka, Jake Roberts, Giant González, King Kong Bundy, Diesel, Sycho Sid, Kane (twice), Big Boss Man, Triple H (thrice), Ric Flair, A-Train, Big Show, Randy Orton, Mark Henry, Batista, Edge, Shawn Michaels (twice), and CM Punk failed to; he defeated the Undertaker at WrestleMania.
21 matches passed before Taker lost at Mania, and quite frankly it is unlikely that anyone will even appear at that many 'Manias, let alone win that many matches in a row. The current holder of the longest undefeated streak at WrestleMania is Rob Van Dam, who is an impressive 4-0 at the Show of Shows.
Can you see Rob Van Dam wrestling in another 17 WrestleManias? Nope, me neither.
