10 WWE Releases That Could Have Been Easily Avoided
1. Mr. Kennedy
MISTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER... KENNEDY... Kennedy was bloody brilliant throughout his tragically short WWE career.
You only have to look back over some of Kennedy's highlights as a part of WWE's main roster from 2005-09 to realise just how big a fish he could've eventually become for Vince McMahon's company.
Yet, despite becoming a United States Champion, Mr. Money in the Bank and even shooting a film under WWE's umbrella, Kennedy's star looked destined to be dashed before it ever got a chance to rise to the unprecedented heights expected.
The reason?
He p*ssed off the wrong people. Simple as that.
The one-man wrestler/announcer was released just four days after a return from a shoulder injury in 2009, coming fresh off the back of a 10-man tag match on Monday Night Raw involving John Cena and Randy Orton.
Orton and Cena apparently rushed straight to the boss after the match and complained about Kennedy's lack of safety in the ring - citing a botched backdrop on The Viper - which then led to McMahon agreeing with his cherished stars and giving Kennedy the boot.
It's foolish to state that Kennedy would still be a WWE employee if he'd simply just not dropped Orton on his neck, yet you can't help but think that he could've stood a better chance of survival if McMahon had given him another chance to prove himself and not terminated his employment so soon after such an accidental c*ck-up.
