10 WWE Releases That Made Absolutely No Sense

6. Erick Rowan

After failing to really pick up much momentum as one half of the Bludgeon Brothers, it looked like Erick Rowan was finally starting to grow into himself during his 2019 alliance with the 'New' Daniel Bryan.

Yet, just when it felt as though the Championship winning duo were set for big things on the SmackDown Live tag team scene, WWE decided to pull the trigger on their split and Rowan was later then whisked off to Raw in the 2019 Draft.

Rowan obviously had a lot to offer as an unpredictable-yet-articulate brutish singles competitor, and his initially weird secret cage storyline could have possibly led to something cool further down the line on the red show. But, it wasn't to be. It was revealed that Rowan had actually been carrying round a big furry electronic spider in the enclosure and Drew McIntyre ended up literally murdering the whole gimmick with some steel steps.

Though at first it looked like Rowan was being thoroughly buried in this moment, this putting to bed of the odd spider-whisperer character meant that Rowan could now be pushed in a new direction, one which could maybe even take full advantage of what he brings to the table. However, WWE had other ideas and ultimately felt he wasn't worth keeping around during the Black Wednesday releases.

For the first time in what feels like forever, WWE are now severely lacking any full-time 'big men' on their Monday Night Raw roster. So, getting rid of such a unique and underrated monster like Rowan looks like a dumb move which could come back to haunt them if he seeks pastures new.
