10 WWE Returns That Nobody Asked For (Which Ended Up Being Awesome)

7. The Undertaker (2020)

Much like his 2019 Super-Showdown sparring partner, Bill Goldberg, The Undertaker's reputation had taken a bit of a hit in recent years due to a number of rather underwhelming performances in the ring.

He was still obviously a bona fide legend of the business and the most respected man in the locker room. Yet, his ability to get the job done in the ring had understandably waned over time, leading to a number of heartbreakingly bad showings against the likes of the previously mentioned Goldberg, D-Generation X and Roman Reigns.

Following these lacklustre matches, The Deadman even ended up missing the Show of Shows for the first time in forever at WrestleMania 35, with the company instead opting to save his appearance for the Raw after 'Mania.

This all resulted in the fans feeling as though "The Phenom" was rightly being given the chance to ride off into the sunset, closing the door on his storied in-ring career.

However, 'Taker had other ideas and, not only did he help produce a memorable tag encounter at Extreme Rules 2019 (which birthed the iconic "Graveyard Dogs"), he set his sights on one more 'Mania throw-down for the ages.

Against all the odds, and a global f*cking health crisis, 'Taker and AJ Styles threw together a genuine classic on the 'Mania stage, producing a cinematic masterpiece with their Boneyard encounter.

Most people would've been happy to see Mark Calaway call it a day post-Extreme Rules, but his last 'Mania ride (we think) was the gift we didn't know we needed.
