10 WWE Reunions That Ultimately Disappointed

4. The Hart Foundation

The 1997 reunion of former Hart Foundation tag team partners, Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart and Bret 'Hitman' Hart, was an overwhelming success, helping to usher WWE into the company-saving Attitude Era. Unfortunately, their 1994 collaboration was not nearly as successful.

In the midst of his second (and longest) reign as WWF Champion, Bret Hart promised to have a family member in his corner at the 1994 King Of The Ring to offset the challenge of Diesel and his cornerman, Shawn Michaels. Much to the surprise of the Baltimore crowd, the old Hart Foundation walked the aisle one more time when Jim Neidhart was revealed as Bret's second.

While 'Anvil' ultimately caused the disqualification victory for 'Big Daddy Cool', his motives were discovered later in the evening. Neidhart turned heel to assist his other former tag team partner, Owen Hart, in becoming the new King of the WWF.

Fans wanted to see Bret and Jim reunite for years, even as foes. Unfortunately, after King Of The Ring, Neidhart acted primarily as Owen's second and the long-awaited rivalry between the Hart Foundation fizzled out. Despite a house show loop that saw Bret defeat his brother-in-law, The Anvil was quickly replaced with Bob Backlund, the man that dethroned Bret for the WWF title.
