10 WWE Reunions That Ultimately Disappointed

Are you ready?

Fans were, for a D-Generation X reunion of its two original members, Shawn Michaels and Triple H. A decade removed from the group's original formation, their 2006 reunion still brought some memorable moments to WWE television. Unfortunately, by 2009, WWE had gone back to that well one time too many and it led to a disappointing, degenerative (if you will) third act.

Michaels and Helmsley reunited for SummerSlam 2009 and the months that followed, but both men were in their 40s by this time. While that isn't old, it might be pushing the limits of believable television when two 40 somethings are running around trying to match their sophomoric humor from 12 years prior.

Certainly, there were some fans happy to see the real-life buddies don the black-and-green once again, but it came off more as self-serving than fan service. Michaels was in the final year of his career and Triple H was just along for the ride. DX did capture the Unified Tag Team Championship at TLC 2009 but only after failing to win the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match at Survivor Series and submitting to Legacy at Breaking Point.
