Of all tag team reunions, perhaps none was more disappointing than the greatest of all-time, the Road Warriors. Primarily known as the Legion Of Doom in WWE, in 1991, Hawk and Animal became the only team in pro-wrestling history to capture the AWA, NWA/WCW, and WWF tag titles.

By 1997, the team was in the middle of their second run with WWE but lost their second championship reign to the New Age Outlaws. After months of unsuccessfully challenging the Outlaws, Hawk and Animal had an explosive split when they began brawling with each other following their latest defeat. A month later, the two would reunite with a new look as the final participants in WrestleMania XIV's tag team Battle Royal.

Led to the ring by their new manager Sunny, Hawk and Animal were now "LOD 2000" and sported new shoulder pads, motorcycle helmets, and spider-web covered wrestling gear. Despite an initial pop from the WrestleMania audience, LOD 2000 soon fell out of the title picture and Sunny was replaced with Droz. By the fall of '98, Hawk and Animal would again be at odds with each other but the angle (and team) was eventually dropped; LOD left WWE once again soon after.
