10 WWE Ruthless Aggression WrestleMania Matches That Should Have Happened
5. The Undertaker Vs. Kurt Angle (WrestleMania 22)
By the time WrestleMania 22 rolled around, The Undertaker had built his undefeated streak at the PPV to 13-0. After it was properly addressed as a near-unassailable challenge the previous year, any man who stepped to ‘Taker at ‘Mania would need to be a serious threat to The Streak.
Unfortunately, Mark Henry in 2006 was the antithesis of a serious threat. In fact, this dodgy casket match was the last Streak encounter which wasn’t in the match of the night conversation at every following WrestleMania until it was broken.
Meanwhile, it is important to never forget that the horrific “Eddie’s down there in hell” comments were made before ‘Mania, not after, so Rey Mysterio’s beef was far more intense between with Randy Orton, not Kurt Angle. Angle simply became a third wheel in his own title program. Having Angle drop the belt to Orton before ‘Mania would then allow Mysterio to win the gold from the callous Legend Killer.
This would of course replace Kurt Angle’s World Title bout with The Undertaker, quite possibly the best WWE match in 2006, which would instead be saved for WrestleMania, but as a singles match. Angle could have a classic match with anyone, whilst ‘Taker was on the verge of hitting his veteran gunslinger peak, and their chemistry was off the charts.
Seriously, how did this not happen at WrestleMania?
