10 WWE Stars Fans Refused To Give Up On

2. Becky Lynch

It's easy to forget that WWE production head Kevin Dunn once hated Becky Lynch's accent so much he asked that her speaking parts be kept brief. How's that for a show of confidence in someone who'd just become SmackDown Women's Champion for the very first time?

Cheers for lighting a fire under everyone's arses, Kev.

Long before she was 'The Man', headlining WrestleMania cards and being printed onto cereal boxes, Becky was still a popular act. Fans were willing to stomach the fact she was painted as Charlotte Flair's jovial sidekick because they could see the enthusiasm Lynch had for performing. Those cheers coming from the stands never dampened even when Bex was filling the dreaded role of jobber to the stars.

In 2018, WWE tried to turn Becky heel on Charlotte and re-tool her as a spiteful, over-confident sort who didn't appreciate support. That didn't work. The people WWE wanted to boo Lynch only cheered louder, likely 'cause they could see that their biggest wish (to have Becky on top) was closer than ever to coming true.
