Fans were willing to stomach the fact she was painted as Charlotte Flair's jovial sidekick because they could see the enthusiasm Lynch had for performing. Those cheers coming from the stands never dampened even when Bex was filling the dreaded role of jobber to the stars.

In 2018, WWE tried to turn Becky heel on Charlotte and re-tool her as a spiteful, over-confident sort who didn't appreciate support. That didn't work.
