Daniel Bryan's in-ring career ended with tears in 2016. Except, as everyone knows now, it didn't.

The overwhelming backing fans gave Bryan between 2012-2016 will never be forgotten. Dan knows that himself, and has acknowledged how important the support of his peers and the people buying tickets was to his ambitions of wrestling for World Championships. He needed those prayers again when all looked lost and his career was in tatters.

Almost two agonising years spent as SmackDown GM later, Bryan gleefully announced that he'd been medically cleared to work inside a WWE ring again and returned at WrestleMania 34. People popped like their kids had just won the Super Bowl. The level of warmth and goodwill on the 20 March 2018 SmackDown is still goosebumps fuel.

Fans refused to give in, and so did Bryan. He spoke of leaving WWE if they wouldn't let him wrestle, and he fought off crushing uncertainty to do what he loves again. Nobody has ever worked harder to return, and nobody has ever experienced more loyalty from wrestling fans than Daniel Bryan.
