10 WWE Stars Fans Refused To Give Up On

5. CM Punk

There are a few times dotted throughout CM Punk's career that were memorable for the way they stirred fan support. Punk was a young buck (no, not that kind of Young Buck) that everyone wanted to see get pushed back in the old WWE ECW days, and he was an internet darling years before that.

Then, a more casual group latched on.

Punk's first taste of World Title sweetness in 2008 only whetted everyone's appetite for more. Though the highs of WrestleMania main events would never come for wrestler or followers, some magic moments did before Punk left WWE in 2014 and...trash-talked the promotion into oblivion to anyone who would listen.

Fans didn't care. They wanted to support Punk's outspoken nature, and they yearned to see him wrestle the mystical "one more match" even when he was floundering in UFC. By the time Punk returned, not even the lowly platform (Backstage!?) could stop people from getting excited about his future.
