10 WWE Stars Undertaker Failed To Elevate To The Next Level
2. Heidenreich
WWE thought that Heidenreich could become a big star, presumably because he had the size that Vince loved. Unfortunately, his stature didnt translate into in-ring skill or charisma in any way, and his feud with Taker ended up being a massive disappointment. The two of them feuded from No Mercy 2004 to the 2005 Royal Rumble. During that period, Heidenreich demonstrated little development in terms of in-ring skill, despite the fact that he was working with one of the most versatile and skilled wrestlers in the entire company. Worse yet, his promos were terrible, and so he relied heavily on Paul Heyman to convey even the simplest of stories. No matter how much Heidenreich tried to use his strength to overpower the Undertaker, there was a level of inexperience in him that became quite obvious in their matches. At the risk of putting all the blame on Heidenreich, Taker deserves a bit of a mention in this case as well. There was somethingoffabout his match quality throughout 2004 and during the first bit of 2005 until before WrestleMania. That period made one thing abundantly clear: Undertaker couldnt work with the bigger men anymore without his match quality dropping. Thankfully, WWE realized what was going on and nixed the planned tag team match involving Undertaker & Kane against Heidenreich and Snitsky. That one would have been bowling shoe ugly, for sure.
