10 WWE Stars Who Always Guaranteed You A Great Match

1. Kurt Angle

The pro wrestling world has never seen someone learn as quickly as Kurt Angle did when he got to the business. We've seen a lot of rookies and newcomers that we could see greatness in early on, but when Kurt made his WWF debut, he had exactly one year of pro wrestling training. If you look at the lengthy list of names that WWE has taken and trained from scratch in recent years (guys who weren't making names for themselves on the independent scene for years before being signed, etc), you will inevitably think of someone like Roman Reigns. A year after Reigns began his wrestling training, he was unsuccessfully challenging for the Florida Championship Wrestling Tag Team Titles. Even someone like Bo Dallas, who, at 24 years old, has seen an immense amount of success at the WWE developmental level, was only one-half of the FCW Tag Team Champions (with his brother, who would go on to become Bray Wyatt) one year into his training. Both of them still needed plenty of work at the time, though. Reigns, especially, looked to still be a couple years from being main roster-ready. There was no "learning curve" for Angle. If you go back and watch his matches during his rookie year, there was never a time where he was an awkward worker who would eventually morph into someone who "got it". From the beginning, he just picked everything up, and he eased the fears of people who wondered whether or not he was some sort of "novelty act" hired by the company only because of his Olympic history. Less than three months after making his WWF debut, Angle won the European Title from Val Venis. Three weeks after winning the European Title, he defeated Chris Jericho to become the Intercontinental Champion. Four-and-a-half months later, he won the King Of The Ring tournament, and only four months later, he was the WWF Champion, defeating The Rock for the belt. All that happened within his first year on television, which goes down as, arguably, the greatest rookie year in wrestling history. Now that he has gotten to the advanced stages of his career, you could make an argument that he is still the most consistent worker on the TNA roster, even at the age of 45. A lot of TNA's better workers such as Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Kenny King, and so on have the occasional off night, but Angle continues to have good match after good match, even battling through a myriad of injuries and ailments to do so. He has gone from being the star pupil to being one of the better teachers around, amazing people who feel that he's finished. Now that he's nearly 16 years into his career, you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank, but while he's still around, we should all marvel at what he's been able to do, and just how good he has made it look.
