4. The Rock

At WrestleMania XIV, The Rock was draped across a stretcher, his body wracked with pain following an assault at the hands of the maniacal Ken Shamrock. As the fans reigned down on the Intercontinental champion with loud jeers of disapproval, he lifted the title in the air, his cockiness and arrogance shining through despite the fact that he was unable to walk himself to the locker room. That moment, as small and as brief as it may have been, not only made The Rock in the eyes of fans and management alike, it solidified him as one of the most entertaining and greatest Intercontinental champions in company history. Two rivalries really defined Rock's title reign, the first being the one Shamrock, in which he never truly beat the World's Most Dangerous Man but, instead, managed to retain through the reversal of referee decisions and with the assistance of Nation teammates such as D'Lo Brown and Mark Henry. The other was his epic feud with Triple H as part of the overarching Nation vs. DX war. The two young, hungry Superstars battled one another with one goal in mind: achieve greatness. Rock ultimately dropped the title to the leader of the degenerates but benefited in the long run, moving on to the WWE Championship just three months later.
