10 WWE Stars Who Defeated Brock Lesnar

8. Rob Van Dam (Vengeance; July 21, 2002)

Upon arriving on the WWE scene the night after WrestleMania 18, Brock Lesnar wasted no time in making an impact. He plowed through every Superstar who got in his way including both of The Hardy Boys. From there, Lesnar went on to enter and win the 2002 King of the Ring tournament in June, earning himself a shot at the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Among those he beat in the tourney was Rob Van Dam, the then-reigning Intercontinental champion. The two faced off in a rematch the next night on Raw which was won by RVD after Paul Heyman interfered, handing Lesnar his first singles loss by disqualification. Naturally, the feud continued past that point, culminating in a match for the Intercontinental Championship the Vengeance pay-per-view. Lesnar came close to getting his first taste of gold in WWE, but blatant interference from Heyman caused the match to once again end on a disqualification. However, winning the title was never Lesnar's primary goal; unleashing hell on RVD was. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1293sy_brock-lesnar-vs-rob-van-dam-intercontinental-championship-vengeance-2002_sport He furthered established his credibility that night by laying out the one-of-a-kind competitor before going on to unseat The Rock as WWE champion at the biggest party of the summer.
