10 WWE Stars Who Desperately Need New Gimmicks
6. Rusev
Rusev should be the man in WWE by now. The Bulgarian Brute has it all, everything you need to become a major player in the biggest sports entertainment company on the planet. Few performers in the company can match the man from Plovdiv for charisma, credibility, talent and legitimacy. Rusev has timing, charm, ability, size, everything. His current position on the WWE ladder is an absolute travesty.
It doesn’t help that Rusev continually gets saddled with quite miserable storylines. Fans had only just gotten over the Dolph Ziggler debacle of years prior when the former United States Champion found himself once again losing Lana to a fellow WWE superstar, this time Bobby Lashley. The angle has been atrocious from the get-go and has left Rusev with less personality than at any other time in his run.
In truth, Rusev doesn’t need a total overhaul. He doesn’t need to be repackaged as a sailor or a carpenter or whatever, although he’d almost certainly make those gimmicks work. What Rusev needs is to be injected with life, to amp up his personality and reach new heights in the process. ‘Cucked ex-husband’ is just about as rotten as gimmicks get.
