10 WWE Stars Who Desperately Need New Gimmicks

3. Mojo Rawley

Contrary to popular opinion, Mojo Rawley is legitimately good at this professional wrestling thing. He is athletic as all hell and carries himself like someone who belongs at this elite level. Mojo also happens to be one of the most underrated promo guys in the company, best shown in a series of phone promos cut during his short post-Hype Bros feud with Zack Ryder.

Despite his obvious talents, Mojo finds himself stuck in WWE limbo, an all too crowded place to be. His Stay Hyped persona is long gone and has been replaced by a darker, moodier Mojo, but that hasn’t really been displayed beyond the man looking in a mirror and occasionally having a shock of blue paint on his face. The attempt at giving Mojo an edge has done nothing but remove any edges that were already there.

Should Mojo revert back to the energetic intensity of his Stay Hyped era? Probably not, but he isn’t exactly fully committed to his current non-persona. A man of Mojo’s talents is perfect for that most American of gimmicks, the jock, the bully, the (American) football player with a cerebral side. The former defensive lineman deserves better than 24/7 title purgatory.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
