Is this cheating a wee bit? Maybe, but neither Chris Jericho nor Kevin Owens could've been prepared for the verbal roasting Vince McMahon gave them backstage at WrestleMania 33. The WWE overseer was angry with the quality of their United States Title bout, and his tongue lashing p*ssed both men off.

Jericho is still mad about it in 2023, and says it's part of the reason why he ended up fleeing the WWE nest in 2018. Truthfully, 'Y2J' was smarting going into the show, because he didn't like that Jericho vs. KO had been relegated from the Universal Title feud in favour of Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar.

KO likely felt the same, but the pair gamely tried to salvage things.

It didn't work. They had a so-so match, then McMahon chewed them out for all to hear behind the curtain. That had to be mortifying, and surely means the ex-tag-teamers don't look back on 'Mania 33 fondly whatsoever.
