Olympic gold medal winner Gable Steveson plans to finish college before throwing his might behind a full-time WWE run. That's admirable, but it does pose a question: Was sticking Steveson in the 2021 Draft really necessary? Vince McMahon obviously knew that he wouldn't be able to use the rookie for a long time.

He was a wasted pick for Raw, basically.

Steveson has been mentioned sporadically by the company, and yet there's just no way he's going to be working matches any time soon. The dude has school, for crying out loud, and that's the most important thing right now. This is why so many longtime fans get triggered by WWE's Draft policies.

Casual fans watching will have forgotten that Gable was even "signed by Raw" by the time he shows up. Also, there's a decent chance WWE will have held another Draft by then anyway, which makes his move even more useless.

Meh.
