10 WWE Stars Who Most Benefited From Paul Heyman's Influence
1. CM Punk
CM Punk is the outspoken sort, that much is clear to anybody who has followed pro wrestling over the past decade or so. Unfortunately, he's also not the biggest man physically, a combination that irked many behind the scenes in WWE when Punk - low down on the totem pole - was only too happy to air his thoughts.
Tasked with developing emerging talent in OVW that could then jump up to the main WWE roster, Heyman took an immediate liking to the 'Straight Edge Saviour'. WWE management didn't want to listen, but Paul repeatedly pushed for Punk to be promoted, something that eventually happened in 2006.
Later, Heyman was cast as Punk's manager during a record-setting WWE Championship reign. The union was based in reality, because it had been the manager who greatly believed in Punk's skills even when others wanted nothing to do with him.
Undoubtedly, Paul Heyman is a large part of the reason why wrestling fans were treated to that lengthy WWE Title run, and why CM Punk was even given house room on the WWE main roster to begin with.
