The absolute best pro wrestling performers in history have been able to marry physical appearance, in-ring acumen and verbal skills to great effect. For example, The Rock must be considered a prime example. By contrast, Brock Lesnar has always possessed the first two traits, but has at times been lacking in the promo department.

That's why Paul Heyman was the perfect man to take WWE's new rough diamond and shine him up during his formative years in the promotion. From 2002 onwards, Heyman has been friends with Lesnar, Brock realising what the manager brings to the table. Their relationship isn't solely on screen.

Away from wrestling, Heyman has worked with Lesnar during his career in MMA and the pair are closely linked in everything they do. Brock was clearly destined for a push upon arriving on the main roster, but he needed someone to speak on his behalf, a person who could ably put across why he was such a dominating threat.

Lesnar would have been a star anyway, but his presence has long been enhanced by Heyman's leadership.
