No surprises here, as Jesse 'The Body' Ventura is one of the most famous ex-military folk full stop. Jesse has pretty much succeeded wherever he has been, whether inside the squared circle, on the silver screen, running for office or indeed in the US Navy. Saying that, I'm not entirely sure what constitutes a successful career in the Navy.

When Ventura graduated from high school the Vietnam War was already underway. Ventura didn't quite make it as a Navy SEAL but was a UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) Frogman, and found himself stationed in the Philippines during the infamous conflict in South East Asia.

Ventura is often referred to as a Navy SEAL, and whilst not entirely correct the UDT's were often referred to as such. The only reason they didn't become SEALs was entirely down to the restructuring of the entire. Ventura didn't see any combat during Vietnam, but he did receive a Vietnam Service Medal.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
