10 WWE Stars Who Should Have Been World Champion By Now

8. Riddle

Robert Roode
WWE

Riddle began his professional wrestling career with considerable hype and a proven MMA record. He debuted in the indies in 2014, where he tangled with the likes of Cody Rhodes, Kylie O’Reilly, and the Lucha Brothers.

Upon signing to WWE in 2018, Riddle soon became one of the standouts in the company’s black and yellow brand. He was a distinct character, combining his barefoot stoner persona and lethal in-ring skill to create a compelling juxtaposition. Riddle flirted with the NXT and North American Championship races but came up short. His team with Pete Dunne, as The BroserWeights, helped Riddle recover from defeat and dictated his remaining time in NXT.

When Riddle debuted on SmackDown, he did so in a winning non-title effort against then-Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles. Nevertheless, he was quickly lost in the shuffle, excluding a 49-day run with the United States Championship.

In a repeat of his NXT trajectory, Riddle has currently been revitalised by teaming with Randy Orton as RK-Bro. While this is one of the more interesting aspects of the current Raw product, the team should’ve been a meeting of two former WWE world champions.
