10 WWE Stars Who Should Have Been World Champion By Now

4. Cesaro

Cesaro is a god-tier in-ring technician whose world title shots have consisted of six and eight-person clashes in which he is just there to make the eventual winner, or their prime challenger, look good.

‘The Swiss Superman’ is a talent whose misuse fans often hold up as evidence of WWE’s poor booking. He has the look, in-ring skill, and fan support, so what has held him back? The most obvious answers would be his promo skills and that his gimmick is rather subdued. Cesaro is a former Paul Heyman Guy, though this was quietly abandoned off-screen. At the time, it was common to verbalise whether there could be another Heyman Guy like Brock Lesnar. Recent developments with Roman Reigns prove there can. Heyman, or another manager, could complete Cesaro to match the blueprints of a world champion.

Cesaro, while excelling most in capturing Tag Team Championships, had a solid 239-day run with the United States Championship.

It looks promising that Cesaro is not only in SmackDown’s Universal Championship scene, but also lost ambiguously (by technical submission) at the hands of champion Reigns. He is at a spot he should have been occupying long ago.
