The closest Cody Rhodes ever came to winning the Money in the Bank briefcase was in 2013, when he was a fingertip away from the ultimate prize, only to have his dreams shattered by a man who was supposed to be his friend, supposed to be his loyal tag team partner, Damien Sandow.

After years as a heel, Rhodes turned babyface out of the ordeal but was also robbed of the opportunity to carry the briefcase and, potentially, enjoy a world title run.

History tells us Sandow would go on to cash-in and lose to John Cena in a moment that effectively killed his credibility with the WWE audience but who knows if that would have been the case with Rhodes.

Now departed from the company, Rhodes missed out on his greatest opportunity to finally achieve that run at the top of the card, all so he could make a babyface turn that could have been accomplished literally a million other ways.
