10 WWE Stars Who Should NOT Go To AEW

5. Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio's fingerprints are all over the stars of AEW (and the wider wrestling world), but would the innovative high-flyer be better off joining Punk, Danielson, Moxley and the rest with the competition? There is definitely an argument for Rey jumping ship. After all, who wouldn't want to see wrestling's most iconic high-flyer go up against PAC, Rey Fenix and the rest, not to mention shackles-free bouts with Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Andrade and more? You there, stop that drooling...

That all sounds great, but Rey Mysterio in 2021 isn't Rey in 2002. It isn't even Rey in 2016. He's still an electric performer, but there is more value in Mysterio the teacher than there is in an active Rey Mysterio. His knowledge and understanding would be invaluable in AEW but there remains a fairly clear reason for the man to stay where he is.

That'll be Dominik. The younger Mysterio is the sort of homegrown product that WWE craves, a young performer with fantastic lineage and a willingness to learn in this system. That is gold dust to this company. The chances of Rey jeopardizing this by moving to AEW are slim to none.

Even without Dominik, Rey is better off in WWE. There is a job for life and a Hall of Fame waiting for the man. Like others on this list, he has nothing left to prove.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
