10 WWE Stars Who Went From Undesirable To Undeniable
6. Big Bill
Big Bill's story is one of triumph over adversary.
In 2016, there was no hotter act in WWE than Enzo Amore and the then-named Big Cass, who lit up arenas not with their in-ring work, but their ridiculous charisma. The duo were brash, cocky but so, so over with the crowd. And Cass, who was 'seven foot tall and you can't...teach...that' had a reasonable amount of hype as a potential breakout star. Unfortunately, things didn't pan out that way.
During their relatively well worked split, Cass ruptured his ACL and spent nearly a year on the side lines, undercutting any momentum his recent heel turn had generated. Coupled with an underwhelming return and persistent backstage issues, Cass was released. It soon became much worse. His addiction to alcohol exacerbated his depression and anxiety, which all came to a head when he suffered a seizure at a House of Hardcore show in 2018.
Thankfully, with the help of wrestling's guardian angel, Diamond Dallas Page, William Morrisey was able to turn his life around, kicking the addictions and worked to get himself into the best shape of his career. A surprising yet very successful run in IMPACT in 2021 opened the door to an even more surprising role in All Elite Wrestling, where that natural charisma and charm is winning over a new fanbase and establishing himself as a cult favourite.
Let's hope that Morrisey can continue to shine and leave those dark days behind him.
