On a podcast appearance with Wade Keller, held amid his bridge-burning crusade, Jon Moxley revealed his hopes for what he thought would be a career-making match opposite Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32.

He essentially put himself forward as a torture porn protagonist, he was that intent on creating a masterpiece of brutality. He asked nothing of Lesnar: only a beating. And Lesnar didn't give enough of a "sh*t" to even do that.

Moxley dreamt of barbed wire bats lacerating his own flesh, but he wasn't allowed to bleed. Randy Orton was, just months later, via far more painful and dangerous means, but then, this company is completely insane. Moxley actually pitched that, but was turned down, possibly because it was deemed tawdry "blood and guts". He wanted Lesnar to "choke" him, to powerbomb him onto thumbtacks "a thousand times". He wanted stunts. He wanted, simply, to "take the worst beating in the history of the world". None of this happened because Lesnar didn't respect Moxley enough to go to war with him, and WWE were hardly going to tell Lesnar to make the effort.

It wasn't the main event; it was a match to have.
