10 WWE Stars Whose Best Match Came Against Bret Hart
2. Owen Hart
As far as family rivalries go, they don’t get much bigger
than Bret vs. Owen Hart.
Much like the last few entries on this list, these two have squared off on multiple occasions and, once again, it’s been rather difficult to pick out the absolute cream of the crop.
But as great as their WrestleMania X meeting was (thought of by many as the greatest show-opener in all of wrestling history), I’ve instead gone with their cage match from just a few months later at SummerSlam 1994 (thought of by many as the greatest cage match in all of wrestling history). There's a bit of a pattern developing here...
The brothers went a staggering 32 minutes as they waged war for the WWF Championship, in a match that criminally was overlooked for the main event slot.
It was undeniably better than the show-closing Undertaker vs. Underfaker clash, though, blending technical prowess with the hardest of hard hits, as well as some major bumps from atop the steel structure. A neck-and-neck finish saw both men clinging on for dear life on the outside, when Owen’s leg became trapped in the cage.
Agonisingly close to the ground below, he couldn’t quite reach the floor, allowing Bret to leap down from the cell wall and claim himself the victory.
Exceptional, yes. But unexpected? Not in the slightest.
