WWE.comPerhaps the greatest master of ring psychology to ever step between the ropes, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts could work any role you gave him to absolute perfection. From his original sinister heel to his face turn and his ahead of its time feud with Rick Rude, Roberts had the crowd in the palm of his hand from the moment he stepped out from behind the curtain. Many wrestling fans consider him the precursor to Attitude Era tweeners like Stone Cold Steve Austin and modern day edgy faces like Dean Ambrose so It's surprising to learn that he never got a major run at the top prize. Of course, if he never got a run with, or at least at, the main title, it figures that a Wrestlemania main event also passed him by. The why here is pretty foggy compared to the others on this list. He was often used as the ultimate character test for a lot of the other talents coming up through the roster. Could they work a fulfilling drama filled storyline as well as work from a mechanical standpoint? Jake was often the guy used in this capacity and that was perhaps why he was never elevated above this position. He was so damn good at it.
