1. Ric Flair
WWE.comArguably the greatest of all time, Flair has 16 world title reigns to his name and a whole host of other accolades including numerous Match Of The Year award and several Hall Of Fame rings. So it was a shock to us when we researched for this article that Ric Flair has never been in the main event at any Wrestlemania. The closest he came was when he 'co-main evented' WrestleMania 8 with Randy Savage, but he did not go on last, that honor given to Hulk Hogan and Psycho Sid. If you know your wrestling history and the circumstances involved in Flair coming to the WWE at the time, you'd know that not having Flair vs Hogan at Wrestlemania 8 is probably one of the biggest missed opportunities in professional wrestling history. Flair had never lost the WCW title when he first came to the WWE in 1991. He entered the company with 'The Big Gold Belt' proclaiming himself 'The Real World Champion.' It would have been a dream match. Ric Flair, the greatest heel of all time and multi-time world champion vs Hulk Hogan, the biggest draw in wrestling history and WWE champion at the time, title vs title at the biggest show of the year. In a huge loss to wrestling fans the world over, Hogan/Flair was a feud that played out at house shows and petered out before anything significant could be done with it. Rumor has it that because Flair could outwork Hogan in every capacity, Vince did not want Flair making his top guy look bad or inferior. It's undeniable that Flair's presence and skill was minimized when he first got to the WWE in order to make Vince's own creations look better. Keeping Flair away from Hogan and the title was part of this and at the time, that's the reason he never reached the main event of Wrestlemania.
