10 WWE Stomping Grounds Impulse Reactions

2. Seth Rollins Vs. Baron Corbin

A creative cul-de-sac WWE didn't so much as reverse out of but smash even harder into, the guest referee angle saw Seth Rollins intentionally narrow the numbers in the build-up to the point where the company required a surprise of immense satisfaction to avoid the wrath of a p*ssed off crowd.

Lacey Evans was not that surprise.

'The Sassy Southern Belle' gets that weird non-drawing heat WWE will claim as the desired reaction - fans do not like to watch her, but don't appear to enjoy not liking watching her. This exact emotion, if it can even be called that, was preyed upon throughout the Baron Corbin's Universal Championship clash. As is all-too-often the case with the 'Lone Wolf', it was just one of the many ways his contest collapsed.

A charmless retelling of an old Attitude Era story, the match theoretically brought conclusion to a shoddy Seth/Baron programme, but a mixed tag may yet await. It will surely at least do away with comparisons between 'The Beastslayer' and Stone Cold Steve Austin - 'The Rattlesnake' got this sh*t over. Rollins can't, but that's no slight on him - who on earth, in 2019, could?
