10 WWE Storylines Let Down By Stupid Logic

7. The Two-Man Power Trip Put Their History Aside

Steve Austin Triple H

If one follows the WWF's own narrative in late-2000/early-2001, then Triple H masterminded the attempted murder of Steve Austin at Survivor Series 1999. That led to Austin then trying to kill Trips at the same pay-per-view 12 months later, and then the duelling pair bled heavily throughout a grisly 'Three Stages Of Hell' slog come No Way Out.

Then, naturally, they became the best of friends.

Austin's explanation for this 'Two Man Power Trip' union was woefully flimsy; he told old pal Jim Ross that Triple H was so malevolent that he'd rather have him on his side than not. It didn't matter that 'The Game' had tried to put Steve out for good by engineering attempted vehicular homicide.

The heel turn Austin had worked at WrestleMania X-Seven, whilst unwanted by most, had at least been plausible. He said he'd do "anything" for the WWF Title beforehand. This tag-team with Triple H, however, didn't make a lick of sense at all.
