Whenever WWE recap the glorious history of The Road Warriors, don't expect them to shine a spotlight on the time Hawk's real-life alcohol abuse problems became an awkward storyline in 1998. The shameless plot point, one that had Droz taking his place in the legendary tag-team, is sad to relive.

Behind the scenes, Hawk was legit struggling with the bottle and slurring his way through LOD promos. The WWF's solution was to exploit those personal demons and play them out on television as a reason why long-time partner Animal wanted to move on.

Classy, and a sobering (pun intended) reminder that not everything was great during the Attitude Era.

Things came to a head in late-'98 when Hawk threatened to commit suicide by jumping off the Titantron on stage. Bizarrely, things took an even worse turn when Droz later claimed he'd been enabling Hawk's addictions and planned to kill him so he could take his place in LOD.
