Still to this day, the bloody battle between Ric Flair and Mick Foley at SummerSlam 2006 stands clear as the best 'I Quit' match in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. The two old men rolled back the years to put on a match every bit as brutal as anything else WWE has managed, with Flair even trying to rip Foley's eyes out using the barbed wire bat.

The bad blood between the two was well-known at this point, and as neither man did anything of note at WrestleMania 23 (Flair was in the dark match, Foley gone) it could be argued that Ric Flair vs. Mick Foley in an 'I Quit' match would have been better served taking place at the Showcase of the Immortals.

As it is, this match stole the show at SummerSlam 2006.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
