10 WWE Superstar Gimmicks That Just Aren't Working

This act is dead. Most fans likely assumed Aiden English and Simon Gotch would not successfully transition from NXT to the main roster, and they were correct. In NXT, you at least have a decent segment of the audience who could ironically appreciate the Vaudevillians, but the main roster doesn’t really handle irony well.

The Vaudevillians really is a terrible act. It’s like a Jim Herd creation in WCW from the early ‘90s. You can imagine in 20 years we’ll be wondering what the hell this was all about, and they will be featured on the WWE Network complete with talking heads saying how obviously silly it was.

Well, WWE tried to make them work on the main roster...for a few weeks. After getting a little bit of a push upon their introduction, they were virtually jobbed out after their program with the New Day ran its course. These days we don't even see their entrance, and its the best part of the act!

Post-brand split, we thought maybe the team would be taken a little seriously once again, but that hasn’t happened. And unlike some underutilized talent in the past, there doesn’t seem to be a sizable segment of the crowd that is just begging for them to receive a bigger push.

It’s not hard to imagine that the curtain will close on The Vaudevillians soon.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
