10 WWE Superstar Gimmicks That Just Aren't Working

1. Bo Dallas

Before defeating Kyle Roberts on the 5 Sept. Raw, Bo Dallas had not won a singles match on Raw or SmackDown since 1 Sept. 2015. Before that, it was 6 Oct. 2014. Perhaps this is why no one believes he’s suddenly credible.

Bo was a successful act in NXT. He was the third person to capture the NXT Championship, and he held it for 280 days before losing to Neville. He dropped it, because he was ready for the main roster, but the main roster was not ready for him.

He came in with the same gimmick he had from NXT, along with an additional winning streak. But it seemed quite early into his run that Vince McMahon didn’t get Bo. He was not a Boliever in the least. After winning 17 consecutive televised matches, Bo lost to R-Truth. His two month push was over.

After continuing his jobbing ways over the past couple years, he was put on the Raw brand. We assumed he’d do more of the same, but the company tried to give him an edge. He’s taken the Braun Strowman/Nia Jax route, and is destroying the local talent of America. It’s not working.

Bo is now randomly positioned as a legit threat, but he’s carrying around a stupid sign. The company just has way, way too much work left to do for anyone to take him seriously again. It’s probably a lost cause at this point in his career. You simply can’t lose virtually every match for two years straight, and then expect people to suddenly buy in. Bolieve that.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
