10 WWE Superstars Who Could Call Themselves "Mr Summerslam"

7. Daniel Bryan

WWE.comWWE.comDaniel Bryan has only competed at four Summerslams, but some of the highest points in his career to date have come at the event. Daniel Bryan made his return to the WWE after his unceremonious firing for choking Justin Roberts with his tie during the Nexus Invasion angle, and was revealed as Team WWE€™s seventh member in their match against The Nexus. He was cheered loudly upon his return and his team was victorious. To that point, it was his greatest night in the WWE and was the start of something special that would manifest itself years down the line. His next two Summerslams would pale in comparison to his first. He would split the bouts (a loss to Wade Barrett in 2011 and a win over Kane in 2012), and move on to what would become a key moment in the Yes Movement in 2013. At Summerslam 2013 he would defeat John Cena clean to capture his first WWE Championship. Moments later he would be screwed out of the title by Triple H, losing it to Randy Orton who cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase, but despite the negative outcome, that night launched Daniel Bryan into stardom. It was that night where he beat the Golden Boy clean in the middle of the ring. It was that night where he began feuding with The Authority, building to his eventual Wrestlemania triumph. Two of the greatest moments of his career happened at Summerslam, and the single greatest moment of his career happened as a result of the events that took place at Summerslam 2013. His record may be an unimpressive 3-2 on paper, but Summerslam has been very good to Daniel Bryan, and he for it. He€™s torn the roof off of Staples Center, and left everything in the ring as summer came to a close. He€™s certainly a contender for Mr. Summerslam.
