10 WWE Superstars Who Could Call Themselves "Mr Summerslam"

6. Triple H

WWE.comWWE.comSince 1995, Triple H has only missed four Summerslam (1996, 2001, 2005, 2010). He has competed 13 times at the event posting a record of 8-5, at the summer extravaganza. Triple H is all but a staple at the WWE€™s annual summer show. Triple H made his Summerslam debut in 1995. He split his first two Summerslam bouts, winning in €™95 against Bob Holly and losing to Mankind in a cage in €™97. In 1998, he would defeat The Rock in a great Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship. That would be the last time Triple H would walk out of Summerslam victorious until 2003. He would go on a three match losing streak, failing to capture the WWF title in 1999 and 2000 (Mankind and The Rock would walk away with the belt those years at Summerslam), and in 2002 he would lose an Unsanctioned Street Fight with his former best friend Shawn Michaels, who came out of retirement just to face the Cerebral Assassin. 2003 would be the beginning of a winning trend for Triple H. He would go on a six match Summerslam winning streak starting with his victory in the Elimination Chamber at Summerslam €™03 (he defeated Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash in a pretty star-studded Chamber match). He would go on to beat Eugene, The McMahons (Vince and Shane) alongside his DX running mate Shawn Michaels, King Booker, The Great Khali (to retain the WWE Title), and Legacy (again as part of DX), in that order. In 2011 Triple H was the Special Guest Referee for the WWE Championship Unification Match between John Cena and CM Punk that CM Punk would go on to win, and in 2013 he was the Special Guest Referee for the WWE Championship Match that saw Daniel Bryan defeat John Cena to win his first WWE Title. Both times he refereed at Summerslam, John Cena lost and the Money In The Bank briefcase was cashed in on the guy that beat Cena, which is an interesting piece of trivia. In between dabbling in officiating matches, Triple H wrestled his last Summerslam match to date in 2012, losing to Brock Lesnar. Triple H has quite a lengthy and successful history at Summerslam, and certainly has some claim to the Mr. Summerslam designation.
