10 WWE Superstars John Cena Only Wrestled Once

2. Lashley

The 2007 Great American Bash may have been a regrettably bad show, but the main event overachieved and then some. John Cena defended his WWE Championship against Lashley to headline the show, and many at the time were shocked that such a potential dream match was being given away so soon. Lashley would soon leave the company however, shedding light on the shotgunning of this match and depriving us of a bout between the two as their development continued.

Even so, for two men who were only decent when carried at the time, they put on one heck of a WWE main event. Lashley looked like an absolute beast, but Cena somehow managed to stay in it long enough to hit an Avalanche AA and pick up the victory. It was one of the first examples of Cena being a far better worker than the crowd was willing to accept.

A match between these two today would be far more interesting. As we all know, Cena has evolved into a grizzled ring vet who gives as much as he takes, and Lashley has secretly been one of TNA's bright spots over the last year. Whilst TNA may or may not be deleted soon, even if that happens it would be unlikely that Lashley returns to WWE.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
