10 WWE Superstars The Undertaker Should Have Faced At WrestleMania Instead

5. Kurt Angle - WrestleMania 22

The Undertaker's iconic string of Match of The Night 'Mania matches kicked off with his epic World Title match with Batista in 2007 and continued until 2013's revenge-driven spectacle with CM Punk, but if Vince McMahon had listened to 'The Phenom', that streak (if you will) could have kicked off one year earlier.

'Taker's in-ring renaissance in the mid 2000s revitalized his career in a huge way. He pulled off a great series of matches with Randy Orton throughout '05 before taking on Kurt Angle in two excellent matches at the beginning of '06. However, come WrestleMania time, he found himself stuck in typical 'Deadman' territory by taking on a limited monster in Mark Henry.

In all fairness, their match was miles ahead of 'Taker's Casket clashes with giants of days-gone-by, but that doesn't change the fact that it stalled his momentum and robbed us of what could have been one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time. How? Well, because 'Taker himself wanted to face Angle for the title and rumor has it that he was willing to lose to make it happen.

While this writer is certainly glad the Streak did not end that early, it does feel like WWE missed the boat by not saving their five-star No Way Out encounter for 'Mania instead.
