10 WWE Superstars Who Are Nothing Like Their Gimmicks In Real Life

The gimmick: The Rusev that we know from WWE television is an overly-nationalistic Bulgarian Russophile who simply can’t stand the United States of America, its people, or its culture. He won’t even speak the language if he can avoid it, preferring instead to dish out his insults in his native Slavic tongue.

That culture clash also shows in his treatment of women. As well as being of the opinion that it’s "a women’s privilege to obey," he apparently deems a raw trout an acceptable gift to his ladyfriends.

In real life: Having made a few cameo appearances on Total Divas, Rusev seems like a pretty fun guy beneath the in-ring gimmick. Besides, he was born on Christmas day, so how much of a baddie could he really be?

He also lives in Nashville, TN, so he clearly doesn’t dislike America too much, and not only that but he’s even married to an American as well! That relationship also puts paid to the idea of him not knowing how to treat a woman.

And speaking of that American spouse…
