The gimmick: Lana’s current gimmick is a little nondescript, having seemingly reverted to managerial duties after a disappointing in-ring run saw her rack up a win-loss record of 0-7.
But it was in that previous role as a manager that the Lana character initially rose to fame. As Rusev’s valet, she was cast as a strong, powerful businesswomen-type; cold, calculated, and a bit of a dragon in all honesty. Billed from Moscow, she came across just as patriotic as her client, although she did eventually have wandering eyes for Dolph Ziggler for a brief, forgettable time.
In real life: Though her character on TV is billed from Moscow, the real-life Lana is in fact CJ Perry from Gainesville, Florida. And though she did spend several years of her childhood in the USSR, it was in Latvia rather than Russia. There, she attended Riga Choreography School—the ballet school of the Latvian National Opera. Suddenly, that dragon comparison looks a little unfair...
And though Lana’s proved to have a wandering eye, CJ Perry has anything but, having been happily married to the aforementioned Rusev since July of 2016.
