10 WWE Superstars Who Are Nothing Like Their Gimmicks In Real Life

7. Roman Reigns

The gimmick: Roman Reigns’ case is a bit of a weird one, because it feels like there’s a disconnect between the gimmick that WWE would like him to have and the one that actually comes across on television.

In the company’s eyes, he’s the man. They’re clearly intent on positioning him as the number one babyface, thrusting him into all these talking segments and expecting him to be some silver-tongued devil, whilst having him tear through anyone and everyone like a badass, Samoan superman.

Unfortunately, though, it hasn’t gone quite according to plan…

In real life: Joe Anoa’i is indeed from a Samoan family, and he is a pretty badass dude, but that’s where his similarities with the Roman Reigns character end. In reality, he’s a far more reserved and chilled-out guy than the one he’s cast as on television, which is probably why the whole thing isn’t working in the first place.

Essentially, they’re trying to make him The Rock when, obviously, he's not The Rock. And even though it clearly isn't working, they keep on trying to force this square peg into a round hole. Granted he’s another big, athletic, Samoan square peg, but still a square peg nonetheless.
