With a background in mixed martial arts, Sonya Deville is a formidable wrestler, whose star has been rising for the last 18 months. In 2019, Deville and Mandy Rose were wrestling as the tag team Fire and Desire. They were unable to capture the tag team titles - nor the SmackDown Women’s Championship - and their partnership imploded in early 2020, when Deville was caught meddling in Rose’s relationship with Otis. Their rivalry and storyline was one of the best programs in WWE on the road to WrestleMania.

While Deville and Rose were merely in Ziggler and Otis’ corners, at WrestleMania, their own feud culminated in a No Disqualification Loser Leaves WWE Match at SummerSlam. Deville lost the match, posted a good-bye on her social media accounts, and hasn’t been seen on WWE television since. It’s likely Deville was booked to lose in order to give her time away from the ring following an attempted kidnapping at her home in Florida. Deville should take as much time as she needs after what was surely a traumatic event.

When Deville does return, she should be booked to go on a singles run on SmackDown. Deville has always had the in-ring ability and her feud with Mandy Rose proved that she has the chops to cut a promo. Given what she’s gone through in her personal life, Deville could be an incredibly sympathetic babyface, working her way through what’s becoming a very strong women’s division., before contending for SmackDown’s top prize.
