10 WWE Superstars Who Are Overdue A Main Roster Push

Kofi Kingston’s WrestleMania victory was one of the best stories WWE produced in 2019. One half of the current RAW Tag Team Champions, Kingston’s journey to pinning Daniel Bryan and claiming the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35 was enough to put a smile on the most cynical fans face. While Kingston’s ascent to the pinnacle of WWE was as inspiring as any storyline, it’s easy to forget that had it not been for a stomp to his face at the hands of Randy Orton, Mustafa Ali was going to be the recipient of a push into the WWE title picture.

It seems WWE are aware of what they have in Ali; he was due for the push prior to WrestleMania 35, and he was seconds away from becoming Mr. Money In The Bank, before Brock Lesnar entered the match. Recently, Ali has been given a spotlight as the leader of the group RETRIBUTION, although their booking has been an unmitigated disaster. Having been buried before they could build any momentum, it’s going to take a herculean effort to restore credibility to Ali’s faction.

WWE will not want to throw in the towel on RETRIBUTION, mere months after introducing them on Monday Nights. It will take patient, long-term booking to build them into a force to be reckoned with, and once an aura has been created around the group, Ali should be seriously considered as the man to win the United States Championship from Bobby Lashley.
